ben
Gentle Ben is a sweet, calm, and modest dog. He approaches others with a gentle demeanor, using his body language and expressive eyes to communicate.
He gets along well with most creatures, though he does have a playful rivalry with squirrels. Ben enjoys giving chase to cats who are up for it, but he respects their boundaries and will stop as soon as they do. Afterward, he’s happy to offer them little kisses and snuggle up beside them.
Ben thrives in the company of other dogs. He plays energetically with the resident dog who shares his enthusiasm and is remarkably gentle with foster puppies or those who prefer a more subdued interaction. He’s also mindful of the resident older female dog, who is quite small compared to him, showing her the utmost respect. Ben is perfectly submissive when another dog gets too excited.
He is wonderful with people, relishing attention before happily drifting off to play or take a nap.
When foster mom is away, he stays in a designated room and has never had an accident. He did have a couple of leg-lifting incidents outside of his space but was easily redirected and hasn’t repeated the behavior recently. In his previous foster home, he was great with the doggie door and outdoor potty breaks. He is also crate-trained; although he wasn’t fond of it initially, he now willingly goes to his crate for a treat and seems to enjoy it.
He may occasionally surf countertops for tasty treats when left unsupervised, it’s a rare occurrence. Out of sight truly means out of mind for Ben.
He rarely barks and shows no signs of separation anxiety.
He loves both dog and human beds, as well as toys.
He enjoys a good bone or bully stick, he prefers to keep them to himself. He is more than willing to share his food, toys, affection, and resting spots with other dogs and cats, but his bones are off-limits!
Ben is a 2 year old mixed breed. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
It’s not easy to find a dog as adaptable and friendly as he is. Whoever welcomes him into their home will surely be grateful for the joy he brings!
